About Us

BakeTran was formed in 2004 by two colleagues, Stanley Cauvain and Linda Young. They had both worked for FMBRA, Chorleywood and CCFRA for many years and each brings their unique skills to the company. They both enjoy a challenge, are ‘ideas’ people and enjoy delivering practical solutions and working as part of a team.LindaandStanley.jpg

LindaYoung.jpgLinda S. Young is a Director of BakeTran with responsibility for knowledge systemisation, software applications and training activities.  From 1994-2004 she was Technology Transfer Manager at CCFRA and was responsible for a team of technologists and computer scientists providing transfer of ‘know-how’ in baking and milling packaged using software techniques including imaging technology. This technology transfer ranged from knowledge-based computer systems to customised training programmes. During her years with CCFRA Linda built up the expertise in the development of knowledge-based and other computer programs for the baking industry.

These programs are used world-wide. She was project manager of the CCFRA team which won a UK National Training Award in 1998 for excellence in training in-store supermarket bakeries. She was project manager for ROLLOUT, a DTI/ESRC/EPSRC LINK project (2004-2006) about novel visual PC screen representations of the complex task of bakery scheduling. She was recipient of the ‘Best Application Paper’ award for ‘Advising the Baker’ at the British Computer Society’s SGES Conference in 1994. In her spare time Linda has co-authored, co-edited and contributed to technical books with Stan.

Both Stan and Linda are Fellows of the Academy of the International Association of Cereal Science and Technology.
